THE FINAL PUSH IS ON
Our trip is compleated but we are still taking donations leading up to the 12/7 date when "All Roads Lead To Eldridge".
Along with my wife, Melanie, and our dog, Gypsy, I will be riding my BMW K1200LT motorcycle to raise money for the Eldridge Children's Home. We will be taking two months off to complete the ride, which will include several promotional stops.
Because of work obligations, our trip has changed. We will be starting 4/1/2013 in Yuma, AZ and then heading to Key West, FL via Tennessee, (to see our kids and grandson), and Daytona Beach, (to see my Mom who is recovering from a stroke). We will then turn around and head back to Yuma, AZ by way of the soon-to-be-famous "Cajun Chaos" with the BMWMOAL in Baton Rouge, LA. I then have to tend to business obligations in Yuma, AZ. Then on June 1, 2013 we will start our trip to the Arctic Circle, Alaska, and then head down to Salem, Oregon, to the BMW International Rally, July 19-22, 2013, and then back to Chattanooga.
This trip will be in excess of 13,000 miles. I will also be doing a blog and using SPOT, a GPS tracking device, so you will be able to follow our progress. The tracking will be divided into two segments to make it easier to follow.
We are now at 12,300 miles and have stopped traveling for some time to work out west before heading back east. It has been a great trip so far so stay tuned for the photo slide show. Follow our blog posted by K and G Cycles.
The trip will only be available starting on the first date shown.
Melanie and Gypsy ready to ride
On October 12th I will be doing a SS1000 ride, 1000 miles in 24 hours or less, from Jacksonville, FL to Key West and back. This ride will also be in support of the Eldridge Children's Home in Eldridge, AL. You may help support this ride by buying miles for 1, 2 or 5 pennies per mile of our donation page, or just a flat donation. Thanks again for your support.
This is from the Eldridge Toy Run web page. I support this cause with thousands of other people because of a good friend of mine, Don Norwood, who introduced me to them and who devotes countless hours to these children. If you are near Eldridge, AL the first Saturday in December, stop by. These are great kids and to meet them and the people that support them leaves you with a very good feeling. Remember, the first Saturday in December,
"ALL ROADS LEAD TO ELDRIDGE".
"Our Annual Benefit
The Eldridge Benefit Team consist of motorcycle and antique car enthusiasts from Northeast Mississippi and Northwest Alabama joining hands with the community to lend support in financial aid and awareness of the Eldridge Children's Home in Eldridge Alabama. Since 1948, this home has given a home to children in all age groups without support from state or federal money. Most support is from the home based church with many other churches, civil groups and volunteers lending a hand both in services and financial support.
This is not your ordinary Toy Run. We suggest gift cards and donations to the home to sustain the home the entire year. We do present gifts to all the children from their own Christmas "wish list".
Riders from the entire Southeast USA arrive from all directions on the first Saturday in December, hence The First Saturday in December--all roads lead to Eldridge.
Rain or shine, hot or cold the event will happen so prepare to join us for a day for the kids. This benefit on site enables you to see where and how your donations are used.
Join us, bring your riding group. We guarantee you will leave with a warm heart for your ride home.
The Benefit Team"
Please make a donation to support the Eldridge Children's Home. 100% of all funds will go to support the children. The money raised from this event will be given to Eldridge Children's Home at next years toy run, the first Saturday in December. All people that donate will be recognized. If you would like to donate directly to the Eldridge Children's Home you may. Please let them know that this donation is for Greg "WANDRR" Turp's ride.
